Had an oatmeal breakfast and made sandwiches for our morning venture to the mercado and officinas turisticas to find out about journeying out to the archeological sites to the north. Scott did a little work and went to the big supermercado to load up on t.p. (which goes into a little trash can next to the toilet, which grosses out K and S), and some staples that we didn't see in the mercado, like coffee filters. Had intentions of grabbing a bus this time (about a 15 block walk, passing the central Zocalo park) but we never quite stayed on one road long enough to make it worthwhile. Anyhow, Kelsey said the park seems closer and closer to our little abode on Arteaga St. She is starting to become the navigator.
After getting most of the info we needed (while Kelsey tried to occupy the children- more like fend off Max), we headed back to the Zocolo for a shady bench and our sandwiches. the giant plaza is beautiful and faces a 500 yr. old cathedral
(to the right). We saw a couple teens playing with some giant tubular plastic bags and the kids got excited to see them for sale with the many balloon vendors- Kaya went up to one of them and asked how much they were- 50 cents! So for the next hour M & K played with their purchase in the foreground of this image while K and I people watched and tried to keep the balloon from floating into traffic and strollers.

As I was cooking up our arroz con pollo for dinner, Kelsey and Scott went back to the mercado for some mangoes and bought a heavy metal shirt she had coveted earlier in a little shop. As the kids played with the leggos, the sky opened up and cool breezes and rain flew in through our screen door and window. They shrieked, grabbed the umbrellas and their "babies" (rabbit and puppy they brought with them) and ran out with their crocs on. As the rain continued to pour, they stayed out (quietly!) in the courtyard below- all I could hear was the splashes in the puddles. They can't open the two gates needed to get out (that keep Ramses in) so it's a secure little play area (except for several fragile, raised, terra cotta pots that I silently worry about toppling over... According to Max, the courtyard i
It's 8:30 pm- late for the kids. Everyone else playing Uno (see?). Still raining outside.

Hi-
I think K should definitely have some stomach lining with a side of bugs. What's the temperature there during the day? Although you have to be more specific as to which K you are speaking of (Kelso or Kaya)!
Big T-storm today in Fla, but got in a great round of golf!
Kelsey is totally grossed out by the meat markets - a bit stinky! No grasshoppers yet, but today we saw cicadas and some kind of grubs in the market. None of us have mustered to courage to partake. We will have to before we leave.
Temperatures have been great - high 70s and low 80s during the day and high 50s and low 60s at night - great sleeping weather. Yes, Abby is fond of using the first initial for people and it can be confusing. I think she realized this and changed. Glad to hear you are having fun in FL.
